Account information: Email address, display name, and optional profile details (phone, location, chess.com username, ELO rating) for parent and coach accounts.

Child information: Display name, age, and chess game data (moves, puzzles attempted, skill assessments). Children do not provide email addresses directly.

Usage data: Game records, puzzle attempts, skill progression, and platform interaction patterns used to personalize the learning experience.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide personalized chess instruction and adaptive difficulty
  • Track learning progress and generate skill assessments
  • Allow parents and coaches to monitor child progress
  • Improve our AI teaching models and platform features
  • Communicate important account and service updates

3. Children's Privacy

Chess Champ takes children's privacy seriously. We collect only the minimum information needed to provide the educational service. Child accounts are managed by parent accounts. We do not show advertising to children. We do not sell children's data. Children cannot communicate with other users on the platform.

4. Data Storage & Security

Data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We use Supabase for authentication and PostgreSQL for data storage, both with encryption at rest and in transit. Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel only.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase: Authentication and database hosting
  • OpenAI: AI-generated teaching explanations (no personal data sent)
  • Stockfish: Chess analysis engine (runs on our servers, no data shared)

6. Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as the account is active. Game records and skill data are kept to provide long-term progress tracking. You may request deletion of your data at any time.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent for data processing

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email.
